Colarusso Concerned Over Shortsighted Actions of Congress

Stoneham, MA.   Fifth Congressional District candidate Caroline Colarusso expressed her concern over shortsighted actions of Congress as the nation approaches a point of no return for our rapidly-increasing national debt. “While there needs to be direct assistance targeted at relief from the Coronavirus, Congress bears responsibility to look at ways to solve real problems other than just throwing money at them,” stated Colarusso.

“Prior to March 3rd the national debt per citizen in the United States was about $69,000 per citizen but has now increased to over $80,000 for every man, woman and child in the USA.  We cannot continue on this destructive path. We are diminishing future opportunities for our children and grandchildren who will inherit this stranglehold of debt.  It is an ‘overhead’ charge that chips away at individual liberty each and every day, by pre-committing more and more of Americans’ future earnings to taxes to fund the debt.  Every time of our elected officials expand the national debt, the ability of future Americans to chase their own dreams as they see fit shrinks.”

Our founders knew this.  Thomas Jefferson said, “To preserve the people’s independence we must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. We must take our election choice between economy and liberty or profusion and servitude.”

Colarusso says “We cannot continue to become slaves to the progressive accumulation of debt.  Katherine Clark believes government can fix every problem by spending taxpayer money.  Her voting record clearly demonstrates her support for recklessly increasing the national debt. Clark has not come up with a new idea to solve problems plaguing our district during her entire tenure.  Clark feeds at the trough of government dependency – taking and spending more of taxpayer money to serve special interests and buy votes.  Clark does not think critically at the unintended consequences of her actions.  I will.  Clark’s knee-jerk reaction is always to direct more of your money towards to whatever group she feels deserves it.  Katherine Clark believes she knows better than you how to spend your money. Tell her that on November 3rd by voting for Caroline Colarusso for Congress.”

“America can no longer afford to mortgage the future on the backs of our children. Spending must be limited and as your next Congresswoman, I will support a federal national balanced budget amendment and work to stop the printing press which leads to taxation servitude and oppression.”

“Let’s safely open up our country; lets safety open up our schools; lets fully open our houses of worship; lets allow the free market economy to continue to adjust itself; lets encourage competition and innovation. Let’s level the playing field. Let’s get government out of the way and watch our free economy thrive.”

To quote Thomas Sowell “the basic premise of economics is scarcity. There is never enough to satisfy everybody. That means there is no free lunch, no solutions only tradeoffs. Politicians are full of solutions. There are free lunches for every voting bloc. The name of the game in politics is to do a little good right under your nose and ignore the harm elsewhere.”

Colarusso believes “Congresswoman Clark’s congressional resume follows this playbook. I won’t. I am asking for your vote on November 3rd to stop the political raiding of our children’s futures.”
